We have received some responses from people
indicating they would give money but had the misconception that the Myanmar
leadership was not allowing aid to come in. The truth is that there are a
number of organizations that have had a presence in Myanmar since before the
cyclone and have been able to bring supplies in and help the cyclone victims
without any opposition. In addition, the
Myanmar government has agreed to accept aid from all sources.
One thing people fail to realize is that much of the world looks at what the US and other large powerful countries and entities have done in going into particular weaker countries and instilling a some control over them under a veil of supposedly "helping" them. This is what the Myanmar government likely has had in mind while being stringent on what aid to accept and what countries to allow relief workers from. Whether you agree with their sentiment or not, the fact is that there have been organizations able to help the victims since day 1 of the aftermath of the cyclone. One such organization is MSF: Doctors Without Borders. They are our featured organization and have 43 international staff and over 1,200 national staff currently working in Myanmar. If you are skeptical of whom to give money to despite the Myanmar government declaring accepting all aid, we encourage you to donate to Doctors Without Borders through our portal . We have set this up with a goal of getting $10,000 donated to Doctors Without Borders. All funds are routed directly to Doctors Without Borders.
